"I believe that design is integral to life: beautiful surroundings bring out beauty, harmony and tranquility. I create, I never emulate. I love to juxtapose old and new, cheap and expensive, rough and smooth. I love the European sensibility of design: strong basics with a twist, always with a sparkle to catch your eye, amaze or amuse. Laughter and joy.
 

Throughout my childhood in South Africa, art was always a unique amalgam of poverty and ingenuity brought to life by color. I was surrounded by art: forms created out of the by-products of daily existence...ugliness transformed, sorrows forgotten.

It is in Africa where I learned to feel the energy and flow of celebrating where we live, who we are and what makes us different."
